Traveling from direct Phuket to Bangkok by bus is cheap and takes 12 hours to cover 840 km (525miles) but it will cost you around 10-15 USD (Economy class- business class). I don’t think it will be a comfortable trip, however, if other transport is high-priced then you can go by bus otherwise, I would recommend you travel by flight if it’s not more than 10 dollars expensive than the bus.
You will get a bus from Phuket town bus terminal 2 to Bangkok Southern bus terminal. However, if you are staying near Patong beach, Phuket then you have to reach Phuket town bus terminal 2 from there you can get the direct bus to Bangkok.
Phuket to Bangkok by Train
Sadly, there is no direct train from Phuket to Bangkok and not a cheap mode of transport, hence, to reach Bangkok from Phuket by train, you’ve got 2 options.
First, take a bus from Phuket (Phuket town bus terminal 2)to Surat Thani(Surat Thani Train Station) and then, from Surat Thani train station, get a train to Bangkok(Hua Lamphong, Bangkok). Phuket town bus terminal 2 is 30min(bus ride) away from Patong, Phuket.
Bus frequency, time, and ticket price(Phuket to Surat Thani): There is 5-7 Buses/day, first bus available at 8:00 am and the bus is 2:00 pm. Phuket to Surat Thani distance by road is around 235km(146miles) 5 hrs bus journey and the bus ticket price from Phuket to Bangkok one way is around $10-12(seasonal).
Train frequency, time, and ticket price (Surat Thani to Bangkok): There are only 2 trains available throughout the day, 10:40 am morning and 07:45 pm evening between Surat Thani to Bangkok(Hua Lamphong, Bangkok). Generally, the train takes around 12hrs and one-way train ticket fare is $28(2nd class) and $60(1st class).

Train frequency, time, and ticket price (Surat Thani to Bangkok): Same as above in the bus+Train section.
Ferry frequency, time, and ticket price(Surat Thani-Bangkok): There is 4 ferries/day, the ferry departs at 8:00 am, 8:30 am,12:30 pm, and 1:00 pm. Almost all the ferries take around 12 hrs and the ticket costs around $16-25 for one way. For more details

Flight: Phuket to Bangkok
Primarily, flying from Phuket to Bangkok(Suvarnabhumi Airport ) is the cheapest way, however, flight fare depends on the season and number of days left before you are looking for flight tickets. Ticket fare from Phuket to Bangkok one way is in the range of $20 to $60. If you are looking for Phuket to Bangkok cheap flight tickets, try Thailand budget airlines, Thai Airways or Thai Lion Air which are local airlines.
Actually, I’ll share a trick that can save you time and money both. Open Skyscanner in Incognito mode then look for the flight between Phuket to Bangkok but don’t select a fixed date, just hear me completely. instead, a select the whole month. If you need a detail explanation, learn here.

Unless you have plans for Surat Thani or Koh Samui, I would recommend you go by Flights first if you can find a cheap deal from Phuket to Bangkok transport. then you can travel from Phuket to Koh Samui oy Phuket to Surat Thani by bus/ferry both.
Second would be the bus because it’s direct and 2nd cheapest option of all. That’ll save you time and money both. Lastly, a ferry would be recommended for those who are still planning their trip and Surat Thani or Koh Samui can be on the list.
